"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." Mark 9:37
I'm reading the New Testament in 60 Days on Youversion and today Mark 9:37 yelled out to me. My church is in the middle of a Community that is ready to be shown the love of Christ. However, the workers at my church are few. I often wonder what is it we can do to reach out to our community that will inspire them to come into our congregation one Sunday morning. Our worship service is pretty traditional, but our Sr. Pastor is a great preacher and can interpret the Scriptures like nobody's business.
I've done what I can do and I have found that the majority of the people doing the evangelizing and reaching out are those who have benefited from the Outreach that we do in the community. I guess this is good, but I want them to also hear the message of God. Rev. RPM says that by being in service we are the hands and feet of God. Our actions very much speak louder than our words, but I wonder if those that help us out know that they are the ones who are in mission for God. Do they need to know that? I think they do. How does the transition happen? Or can it happen? I think with dedicated leaders who are guided by the Holy Spirit can make it happen. The love of God should radiate from those of us who choose to lead the body of Christ (aka the Church). I am trying very hard to listen to how God is moving in my life and I hope that I can act according to God's will. There will never be enough workers, but Lord almighty, the harvest is plentiful.
Peace my friends!
